The trust in its present form was created in 1975 following the sale of the former almshouses (The Square). The Trust later acquired 1, Whites Cottage which was refurbished to provide two self-contained flats, rented by two people from village families of long standing.
In the late 1990s the Trust separately formed the Margaretting Community Fund under the umbrella of the Essex Community Foundation. Since then, our Foundation fund has provided grants of over £6,000 to local groups within the Chelmsford Borough in addition to those made by our main fund.
The weekly bus service to Ingatestone continues to be well used, and many senior citizens receive hampers at Christmas. The Trustees, who meet at regular intgervals throughout the year, have a wide field of reference when dealing with cases of genuine need, and this is not limited to the elderly. For example, the Trust may offer financial support to assist local students with continuing education.
Enquiries may be made of any of the Trustees and any requests will be considered and dealt with in strict confidence.
