Schubert: Quartet in Dm, D. 810 (Death and the Maiden)
This year’s programme has many performers playing the music of their homelands. Opus 13 include both of Grieg’s quartets, and as Grieg counted Schubert among ‘the noblest natures’ in music, we had no hesitation in pairing his short second quartet with Schubert’s tumultuous Death and the Maiden.
