Thursday 24 December 2020
19:00 to 19:45

Rev Michael Allardice will lead an early evening 'watchnight' service at 7 pm in Kilrenny Church on Christmas eve.

Members may have family who wish to attend with them, and as you are aware seating is currently limited, and we are restricted in the number of persons who can attend worship. Therefore, to ensure that no one is turned away on Christmas eve, the Kirk Session proposes to operate a booking system.

Could you please contact Corinne to book the number of seats you require. Seats will be allocated on 'first booked' basis.

Hymns

315: Once in Royal David’s city, stood a lowly cattle shed

where a mother laid her Baby in a manger for his bed.

Mary was that mother mild, Jesus Christ her little Child.

He came down to earth from heaven who is God and Lord of all

and his shelter was a stable, and his cradle was a stall.

With the poor and meek and lowly lived on earth our Saviour holy

And our eyes at last shall see him, through his own redeeming love;

for that Child so dear and helpless is our Lord in heaven above;

and he leads his children on to the place where he is gone.

Not in that poor lowly stable, with the oxen standing by,

we shall see him; but in heaven, set at God's right hand on high,

where his children gather round, bright like stars, with glory crowned.

316:  Love came down at Christmas, Love all lovely, Love Divine;

          Love was born at Christmas, star and angels gave the sign.

          Worship we the Godhead, Love Incarnate, Love Divine;

          worship we our Jesus: but wherewith for sacred sign?

          Love shall be our token, love by yours and love be mine,

          Love to God and all men, love for plea and gift and sign.

309   Still the night, holy the night! Sleeps the world; hid from sight,

          Mary and Joseph in stable bare watch o'er the Child beloved and fair, sleeping in heavenly rest, sleeping in heavenly rest.

          Still the night, holy the night! Shepherds first saw the light,

          heard resounding clear and long, far and near, the angel-song,

          'Christ the Redeemer is here! Christ the Redeemer is here!

          Still the night, holy the night! Son of God, O how bright,

     love is smiling from thy face! Strikes for us now the hour of grace,                 Saviour since thou art born! Saviour, since thou art born!

312  Away in a manger, no crib for a bed,

          the little Lord Jesus laid down his sweet head;

          the stars in the bright sky looked down where he lay,

          the little Lord Jesus asleep on the hay.

          The cattle are lowing, the Baby awakes,

          but little Lord Jesus no crying he makes

          I love you, Lord Jesus! Look down from the sky,

          and stay by my side until morning is nigh.

          Be near me, Lord Jesus; I ask you to stay

          close by me for ever, and love me, I pray.

          Bless all the dear children in your tender care,

          and fit us for heaven, to live with you there.

310  See him lying on a bed of straw

          a draughty stable with an open door;

          Mary cradling the babe she bore,

          the prince of glory is his name.

                   Oh, now carry me to Bethlehem

                    to see the Lord of love again;

                    just as poor as was the stable then,

                    the Prince of glory when he came.

          Star of silver, sweep across the skies,

          show where Jesus in the manger lies;

          shepherds, swiftly from your stupor rise,

          to see the Saviour of the world!

                   Oh, now carry me.......

          Angels, sing again the song you sang,

          sing the glory of God's gracious plan;

          sing that Bethl'em's little baby can

          be the saviour of us all.

                   Oh, now carry me......

          Mine are riches, from your poverty,

          from your innocence, eternity;

          mine, forgiveness by your death for me,

          child of sorrow for my joy.

                   Oh, now carry me......

306   O come, all ye faithful, joyful and triumphant,

          O come ye, O come ye to Bethlehem;

          come and behold him, born the King of angels;

                   O come, let us adore him, O come, let us adore him,

                   O come, let us adore him, Christ the Lord.

          God of God, Light of Light,

          Lo! he abhors not the Virgin's womb;

          Very God, begotten, not created:

                   O come,.....

          Sing, choirs of angels, sing in exultation,

          sing, all ye citizens of heaven above,

          Glory to God in the highest

                   O come,......

          Yea, Lord we greet thee, born for our salvation,

          Jesus, to thee be glory given

          Word of the Father, now in flesh appearing:

                   O come........

Intimations

It is with regret that, due to the change in the Covid Restrictions affecting Scotland that come into force on December 26th, the decision has been taken to close Kilrenny Church for a minimum of three Sundays ie 27th December, 3rd January and 10th January.

This decision has been taken in what is considered to be in the best interest and for the health and safety of all members of the congregation.

Acting with regard to guidance from the Scottish Government, the Church of Scotland and St Andrews Presbytery, the Kirk Session will advise you when worship will recommence in the Church.

The Kirk Session wish you all a very happy and safe and healthy Christmas and look forward to seeing everyone at worship in Kilrenny Church before too long.
