Leadership Vacuum
The Church of Scotland has a leadership problem: congregations are looking for it, while ministers are ambivalent about it. That’s because we’ve failed to discuss it and done little to nurture it.
The Revd Dr Neil Dougall, minister of St Andrew Blackadder Church in North Berwick, served as Convener of the General Assembly’s Ministries Council from 2011-2015. He then enrolled in a Doctor of Ministry Program and focused on Parish Ministers and Leadership. Drawing on his research he will suggest why the church is where it is when it comes to leadership and offer some suggestions to address this.
All minsters, elders and members are warmly invited to attend. There will be time for questions, discussion and engagement with Dr Dougall on this topic with has immense relevance in the contemporary Church situation
