Location: Remote / Hybrid (Birmingham Studio)
Commitment: 2–4 hours per week (flexible)
About the Role:
Behind every great broadcast is high-quality sound. We are recruiting an Audio Content Editor & Archivist to clean, stitch, and organize our local audio assets. In this role, you will take the raw, on-the-ground recordings uploaded by our Volunteer Field Content Collectors and polish them into clear audio packages. You will work hand-in-hand with our Volunteer Radio Script Writers to ensure that final recorded interviews sync up perfectly with the introductory scripts read live on 87.9 FM by our presenters. Key Responsibilities:
- Edit, clean, and level raw audio interviews and ambient sound bites captured by our Volunteer Field Content Collectors.
- Cut down long-form community conversations into short, engaging 1-to-3-minute broadcast segments.
- Work with Volunteer Radio Script Writers to format audio packages, ensuring live presenters know exactly when to introduce and cue recorded files.
- Maintain, tag, and catalog our digital audio archive so that classic community stories can be easily retrieved for future programming. [1, 2]
What We Are Looking For:
- Basic experience using audio editing software (such as Audacity, Adobe Audition, or Reaper).
- A sharp ear for clean sound, with an interest in formatting audio for the unique demands of community radio.
- Reliable digital file organization skills to manage the station's incoming media hub efficiently.
