Important Project Timeline & Meeting Dates
- 14 August 2026: Birmingham City Council’s Local Planning Authority officially launched the reopened public consultation period. Residents are actively invited to review the full planning and financial viability documents to submit fresh representations. [1]
- Extension & Closing Window: Per statutory guidelines for major re-opened consultations, residents generally have a window of at least 21 to 30 days to respond. However, the local planning authority may continue to evaluate community representations right up until the official committee agenda is frozen. Check the BCC Planning Portal using reference 2025/01204/PA for the final, hard cut-off date. [1]
Council’s Planning Committee.
While the council has confirmed that the Druids Heath application will return to the committee "later this year" in 2026 following the reopened consultation, a specific meeting agenda has not yet been locked in. [1, 2]
- Upcoming Planning Committee Dates: The application will go before a public vote on one of the council's upcoming Thursday committee dates. The scheduled meetings for the remainder of 2026 are:
- Post-Outline Approval (Multi-Year Phase): Submission of separate Reserved Matters applications for each individual street block, each triggering its own window for community design feedback and engagement. [1]
What to Expect at a Birmingham Planning Committee Meeting
Birmingham City Council Planning Committee meetings are formal, public sessions where city councillors vote to approve or reject major developments like Druids Heath.
- When and Where: Meetings are held on scheduled Thursdays at 11:00 AM in the Council Chamber at Birmingham Council House (Victoria Square, B1).
- How to Watch Online: You do not need to travel to the city centre to follow along. All meetings are broadcast live and archived for later viewing via the Birmingham City Council Webcast Portal.
- Can the Public Attend? Yes. The public gallery is open to anyone wishing to sit in and observe the debate and voting process in person.
- How to Speak at a Meeting: If you want to object or support the application directly to the councillors, you must register your request in advance. Requests must be sent to the committee manager by 12:00 PM on the Monday before the Thursday meeting. Speaking slots are usually strictly limited to 3 minutes per speaker.
