Friends of Parks groups are independent voluntary groups set up at community level that work in partnership with the local authority to enhance, improve and promote parks. The Friends of Grove Gardens Group was set up in October 2022 and is composed of local residents and people who use the park regularly. Anyone can join the group and there is no membership fee. A Committee has been established to manage the Friends group and act as a focal point to pursue initiatives to develop and propose ideas and suggestions to the Council that will preserve and enhance Grove Gardens as an important local green space and making it an attractive and accessible area for all. Responsibility for the Park and any initiatives remains with the Council.
Currently, a number of working groups are exploring ideas through informal discussions on different topics that have been raised:
- Nature biodiversity and gardening
- Children and education
- Working with the council maintenance and upkeep
- Social events
- Dogs
