Most of the Lilley Walk estate, named after Major H. H. Lilley, the donor of The Lower Glen, was built on brownfield land previously used by Miller and Lilley, builders merchants now part of Bradfords. Unfortunately part of the southern terrace of houses as well as three detached houses were built on the lowest part of the meadow above the brownfield land. However, the nearest portion of the reduced meadow to the Lilley Walk houses was adopted by East Devon District Council as public open space in 2006 and this also provides a rather steep and sometimes slippery access on foot from Lilley Walk.
