On April 22nd, FoPMOS received an email from Richard Booker, Play and Infastructure Officer at SMBC, stating that:
"The quoted costs for remediation of the synthetic carpet pitch at Peel Moat exceeds the budget we had set aside for this works.
I am currently in the process of reviewing the options with our Estates Team and the framework contractor.
I expect to present Area Committee with a proposed way forward in June."
Obviously, we are very disappointed with this update and are currently speaking to the council to get further details and investigating fundraising to make up any shortfall.
Applications have also been made to designate Peel Moat Open Space an Asset of Community Value and a Local Green Space which will hopefully protect it from any development and give a commitment to any future finacial donors that the area will remain a community open space. Hopefully, a more positive update to follow....
