Common Darter (male)

The Common Darter is a summer and autumn dragonfly, often on the wing as late as November. It has red pterostigma (the rectangular cell near the wing tip) and a yellow strip on the leg, which distinguishes it from other darters. This one was photographed on an oak leaf at the woodland edge of the Tumuli field at Landport Bottom. (Zoe Watson 28/9/2015)
