2026 is the 75th anniversary of the creation of Friarwood Valley Gardens and the trees planted in the early 1950s are now mature and some have exceeded their usual lifespan. As trees die or become diseased they are removed by the Council's Tree Team and we aim to replace them with new ones. Over the years we have planted 16 young trees paid for by donations. When possible, enough of the dead tree has been preserved for tree carving and we have six tree carvings created by Yorkshire Carving.
