The London Gazette on 25 January 2019 announced the award of the Polar Medal 2019 to four people 'for outstanding achievement and service to the United Kingdom in the field of polar research'. All the awards were for the Antarctic. Congratulations!
Polar Medals 2018
The London Gazette on 26 January 2018 announced the award of the Polar Medal 2018 to four people 'for outstanding achievement and service to the United Kingdom in the field of polar research'. The awards related to the Arctic were to Dr Kevin Kerr Newsham, James Michael Stewart Wake and Nicholas Levers Cox.
Congratulations to all. Nick Cox is a long-standing member of the Arctic Club.
Polar Medals 2017
The London Gazette on 20 January 2017 announced the award of the Polar Medal 2017 to eight people 'for outstanding achievement and service to the United Kingdom in the field of polar research'. The awards related to the Arctic were to Myrtle Simpson, Professor Peter Nienow, Professor Paul Smith and Stephen King.
Congratulations to all. Myrtle is a long-standing member of the Arctic Club and the Scottish Arctic Club.
Polar Medals 2016
The London Gazette on 8 January 2016 announced the award of the Polar Medal 2016 to seven people 'for outstanding achievement and service to the United Kingdom in the field of polar research'. The awards related to the Arctic were to Derek Fordham, Dr. Kim Crosbie and Professor Bryn Hubbard.
Congratulations to all. The Arctic Club is especially pleased for Derek Fordham who has been our Honorary Secretary for many years. He was awarded the medal by Prince William at Buckingham Palace on 22 April 2016. Well done, Derek!
