On Sunday 6 July we hosted an annual visit by London Blind Ramblers, a membership group for blind and partially sighted adults of all ages. The group meets regularly within and around London for guided walks led by local rambling groups, with volunteers from these groups assisting as sighted guides during the walks. We arranged a morning and an afternoon walk taking in the Ouse Valley and the Grand Union Canal from our base at The Old School, Old Wolverton.

Lunch was ‘bring your own’ with hot and cold drinks provided and after the second walk we welcomed everyone back to an afternoon tea for a chat, refresh and refuel before our visitors set off on their journey home.

Every year, volunteers are needed for driving, guiding and catering. The walks are open to everyone – just turn up on the day, as with all the walks in our programme. They are shorter than our usual programme and so an ideal opportunity for anyone new or who prefers a shorter walk. It is a very enjoyable and worthwhile event.
