On Saturday 3 October at 12:30 pm, we will gather at the Bargate (SO14 2DJ) for “Southampton Takes a Stand” — a counter-demonstration bringing people together against racism, intimidation and division.
This mobilisation is a direct response to far-right networks across the South Coast — including the so-called “Patriots” from Portsmouth, Bournemouth and Southampton — who are planning a protest and march beginning at Town Quay on the same day.
Their choice of location is no accident. By assembling at the waterfront, they are attempting to exploit local anxieties and encourage people to view Southampton’s waterfront with fear and suspicion.
Southampton is a proud, multicultural city. We will not allow anyone to weaponise our geography, intimidate our communities, or sow division between neighbours. Southampton stands together against racism, intimidation and division.
