Our 2017 Project - Oliver!

This well-loved show by Lionel Bart is not just a lot of fun (which it is) with some touching pathos (which it has.) It raises many questions which are so topical today. Child exploitation and cruelty - the way society treats those who are "the poor" - violence against women - and more. Dickens saw them all in the 19th century. We still have them in the 21st. So it's entirely appropriate that the show should be put on, once again, in church.

Performances, rehearsals and other gatherings of cast, crew and friends will once again be on Tuesday nights in St. Peter's Church.

Our first get-together was on Tuesday 6th September. Almost forty people crowded into the Mortimer Room, including several "first-timers" - which is great! We ate and drank, we learned a bit about the show, we watched some clips from the film (to give us an idea or two - but realised that we can't be quite that extravagant in our staging!) And then we sang three songs - "Food, Glorious Food", "Consider Yourself" and "Oom-Pah-Pah". A riotous end to a super evening.
