Indoor Grand Match 2020 Postponed to 2021

The fifth Indoor Grand Match of the Royal Caledonian Curling Club, planned for Saturday 24 October 2020, has been postponed for a year due to Covid-19.

The competition, which takes place every five years in the absence of Outdoor Grand Matches, brings together the curling community across Scotland with over 2,000 members, joining forces in an epic battle of North v South. This event takes place across many different ice rinks, with clubs travelling across the country to play away in other ice rinks.  The current restrictions for indoor activities and mass gatherings have led the organising committee, to reach the sensible decision to postpone the event.
RCCC Vice-President Andrew Kerr said:
“Although we are saddened that this decision has become inevitable, the safety and well-being of our membership is our top priority. While we all hope to be back curling at the start of the season, we just don’t know what that will look like yet, so while we are disappointed, it is undoubtedly the right decision to postpone this year’s Indoor Grand Match until 2021”
It is proposed that the current entries will be held over for the rescheduled date, however refunds will be available on request if clubs so desire.
