Community Orchard

The Orchard Project 2021

Orchard TeamOur Community Orchard is growing. In March 2021 we planted ten fruit trees donated by an organisation called Social Orchards. In October, we planted twelve more trees - a mixture of apple, pear, cherry and plum. When the trees bear fruit, you are welcome to pick and eat it.

We want to extend the orchard with more trees and bushes, not only to make this area of the park more attractive, but to make a habitat for birds, butterflies and bees and to contribute to national Green targets in reducing carbon emissions. Trees are vital to combat global warming. They absorb carbon dioxide and other pollutants, and release oxygen making our air cleaner. More trees need to be planted globally in order to halt the rise in the planet's temperature and extreme weather events.
