Playgrounds
- North Sheen Rec has two playgrounds, one for younger children which includes a paddling pool, climbing frame, roundabout, swings and a see-saw and another for older children which has climbing apparatus, a zipline and swings.
- To be kept informed of what is happening for the benefit of children who use the Rec, check our news page or go to the Become a Friend page and we will include you in our mailing list.
Paddling Pool
- The Rec has a paddling pool in the Junior Playground Richmond Council's policy on when this is open states: "We aim to open the paddling pool over the second bank holiday weekend in May and keep it open until September. However, the pool will only be filled if the 'feels like' temperature is 20 degrees celsius or higher and that little rain is forecast."
- To keep the pool undamaged and open for use, please ensure that children do not use cycles / scooters etc in the pool at any time.
- Please see Richmond Council's Paddling Pool Regulations for more details.
New Playground Equipment at the Rec!
In 2014-15, the Friends of North Sheen Recreation Ground were delighted to have worked with Richmond Council on the renovation of the playgrounds in the Rec. Improved playground equipment was one of the key items identified by our research with users of the Rec. We shared this finding with Richmond Council and helped them conduct a specific study with children and parents that was used to inform the playground re-design. The re-design kept the items that were popular with users (with some up-grades where necessary) and added in new equipment.
The new equipment includes items that are aimed at groups previously not catered for by the playground, including all-ability items that can be used by children in wheelchairs, items for under-3s and more challenging items for older children (for example the zip-wire).
- Children must always be in the care of parents or carers at Friends' events and Friends / those involved in our events must never be alone with other people's children attending FONSRG events.
- Please report any concerns you may have about child protection at a FONSRG event to a FONSRG Committee member.
- No photos can be taken of children at our events except in exceptional circumstances, for example where parents / guardians have signed a consent form for their children to have their photograph taken. This form will clearly set out the intended use of the photo and FONSRG regulations, as follows:
