Volunteering
You could volunteer to be one of the stewards at the Guildhall. This building, with its magnificent clock, is a centrepiece of Guildford High Street. The Guildhall will be open one day a week during the summer months. The Guildhall attracts a steady stream of passers-by who are intrigued to see the inside this historic building and learn about its role today and in the past.
Exhibition visits
As a member, you will be invited to see new exhibitions at Guildford Museum, with an introduction to the exhibits by museum staff.
Outings and talks
If you are interested in local and national history, you will enjoy the events and talks organised throughout the year. Typically, the programme includes talks and a few outings to places of historic interest in the vicinity of Guildford, The Events page lists the forthcoming events at the present time.
Funding support
Raising funds to support the museum is a fundamental aim of the Friends of Guildford Museum. For example, we funded the purchase of a Collections Management System to replace the museum's outdated cataloguing system in 2021. We have also contributed funds to enhance recent exhibitions such as the 'Secret Guildford' exhibition in 2024 and the 'Video and Electronic Games industries' in Guildford in 2022.
