This walk starts at the playing field car park and is about 2 miles. It takes about 45 minutes to complete and will be particularly attractive in the spring.
Unless it has been very dry, it's best to wear your wellies.
From the top car park on the Playing Field go out of the double gates, turn right and head along the footpath at the top of The Spinney.
At the end turn right for about 50 metres before turning left into Alsa Wood.
After about 50 metres bear left, and continue along the wide, straight path through the wood and over the M11 footbridge and keep going along a track past a private house.
Continue on when the surface changes, and, after a bridleway and a footpath on your left, turn right at the end of the well-fenced garden (just before the entrance to the Nature Reserve, into which you can always do a quick detour), passing beside part of the Christmas tree farm, and behind a private house.
Continue northwards along the side of the wood following the right of way.
At the corner of the wood there is a footpath cross-roads; you should turn right again alongside the wood and keep going until you are confronted by the motorway embankment.
Turn left and go down to Bedwell Road.
Go under the motorway and after 20 metres turn right through the gap in the hedge where you take the cross-field path and then straight ahead at the stile to rejoin the path at the edge of the wood.
Follow the path down the east side of the wood and thus back to the car park.
