1) Is there an application form for new volunteers?

2) How often and where do you meet?
Every Monday from 1930-2200. Alternating between Springfield Hospital and Asda in South Woodham Ferrers
3) How long does the standard first aid training take for new volunteers?
Four days on weekends, as available to all the new volunteers and trainer. On the fourth afternoon you are assessed on the skills you have learnt
4) Other than the four days training what commitment will you expect from me?
Six event days per year. One event day every two months is the minimum. Every Monday evening or at least two per month
5) When would the four days training start?
Volunteers need to attend and observe at four events before their training begins
6) Will I receive certificates for my completed training?
No certificates are issued
7) Is workwear issued?
Workwear is provided on a loaned basis. Trouser, shirt, (or polo shirt), Hi-vis waistcoat and Hi-vis winter coat
8) Will I get paid?
Nobody in the charity is paid. We are all volunteers
9) Can I get travel expenses?
Travel expenses can be claimed for attending events once you are trained. Either mileage or bus/train tickets, not taxis. Travel expenses are not paid for attending training
10) Will food and drink be provided?
Food and drinks are often provided by the event organisers but not at all events. However the ambulances have a kettle and tea/coffee for the volunteers
11) Does the charity have ambulances
There are three ambulances and numerous treatment centres
12) Can I be trained to drive an ambulance?
With a manual full driving licence volunteers can be taken out and assessed on their ability. Licences will be viewed and any accidents/convictions declared
13) Must I have medical skills to join?
Volunteers require no skills as all training is provided
14) What is the minimum age
Volunteers can join us at 14 years old
15) What is the maximum age
There is no upper age limit
16) Are there any volunteer roles without treating patients
There are many roles available from admin, ambulance maintenance, equipment stocking and many more
17) Is there a formal interview
There is no formal interview only a friendly informal discussion
