“Critical hope” reflects the ability to realistically assess the environment through a lens of equity and justice while also envisioning the possibility of a better future. Championed as an idea by Paulo Freire, "critical hope" is an active, necessary, and realistic, rather than passive or naive, stance against oppression and despair, deeply rooted in his work Pedagogy of Hope.

How can we hold onto critical hope in our citizenship, whilst also acknowledging the difficult times we all face? Self soothing and renewal through nature and singing can help support us.

Join National Park City London Ranger Catherine for a May festival series of walks in nature, bringing together sound, song, and sensory exploration in nature's beauty.

A series of events - free (Creative Croydon) and low fee paying (Calat) walks - will bring you delight and new connections to the land and each other.   Two are provided by Calat (6 and 20 May eves)  and three offered by Creative Croydon (20th & 30th May AM and 27th May eve).
