Bucks took part in an event at Twyford on 14th January. The teams were: Bucks, Berkshire, Hertfordshire and Maidenhead.
Bucks were unfortunately missing 5 players from the squad, which turned into 6 missing when there was a no-show on the day. This meant that some players were playing up to 5 boards higher than they would normally expect, so a tough time was predicted.
The tough time duly arrived, but I was pleased to see the high quality of play and determination from the players.
Bucks came bottom out of the 4 teams, but it was useful practice and I did get to see some new players in action. Also, Bucks came bottom in this fixture last season and we ended up having one of our best seasons ever!
