The usual Bucks Junior Congress (LJCC Qualifier) was not held at Wycombe High School this year. This event is a substitute, continuing the partnership between the BYCA, the Gerrards Cross Memorial Hall and the Gerrards Cross Chess Club to provide a free to enter event for local Bucks children.
The competition was split into 4 age groups - Under 18, 10, 11 and 9.
Despite several people dropping out at the last moment (always a risk with 'free' events) and some players disappointingly not showing up on the day we still had a respectable turnout of 65 players.
In the Under 18 Section, Nakul Nataraj and Charles Page finished with 5.5/6. A very close tie break game went the way of Nakul. Winner: Nakul Nataraj. Runner Up: Charles Page.

In the Under 11 Section, Kivin Mathurangan recovered from a first round setback to finish with 5/6. He was joined by Kieran McCleverty. The tie break was won by Kivin. Winner: Kivin Mathurangan. Runner Up: Kieran McCleverty.

The Under 10 Section was the most fiercly contested. Arthur Page seemed to have it all wrapped up on 5/5 but lost in the last round to Lucas Barnett-Harris. They were joined on 5/6 by Rory Conner. The tie break was a round robin contest: Arthur won his games against Lucas and Rory; Lucas won against Rory. So the tie break scores were: Arthur 2, Lucas 1, Rory 0. Winner: Arthur Page. Runner Up: Lucas Barnett-Harris.

In the Under 9 Section there was no need for tie breaks. Aaryan Agnihotria made a 100% score of 6/6, closely followed by Sebastian Spight on 5/6. Winner: Aaryan Agnihotri. Runner Up: Sebastian Spight.
