BRIAR ROAD ALLOTMENT HOLDER’S ASSOCIATION
Dear Plot Holders,
Just when we thought Spring was here, we’ve had a miserable day! We hope everyone is starting to look forward to the growing season.
SITE SHOP: As we reported in our note earlier this week, we had a very successful day on Sunday – we still have some bags of soil improver / manure left, so will be opening the shop again this coming Sunday, 8th March from 11am-1pm. We’ll be in touch again shortly to see if we can muster enough volunteers to compile a rota to open the shop on a more regular basis and hope to be able to stock other useful items like tomato feed and multipurpose compost.
RICHMOND SEED SWAP TO BE HELD AT YORK HOUSE: SATURDAY 7TH MARCH
WOODY WASTE COLLECTION: Trials have started on some sites in the borough of the provision of an industrial shredder to dispose of the waste and provide chippings – we’re hoping to organise this for our site soon, so as soon as we have any further information we’ll let everyone know.
WOODCHIP: There is woodchip on the hardstanding at the Meadway Orchard – the Friends of Meadway Orchard have taken what they need and have kindly said that we can help ourselves.
COUNCIL INSPECTIONS: The council allotment officer has let us know that Spring inspections will take place in the next few weeks. As always if you think you will struggle to tend your plot in the coming growing season, please let someone on the committee or the Allotment Officer know.
BIRD FLU: Unfortunately, many of you will be aware that cases of bird flu have been reported locally. Please be aware, especially with poultry on site and our proximity to the river. Government guidance can be found here Bird flu (avian influenza): how to spot and report it in poultry or other captive birds - GOV.UK
SUNDAY 17TH MAY – PLANT SALE: This is a great way to get plants for your plot. Please put a few extra seeds in when you're getting your planting underway! Please put the date in your diaries and we’ll have more details nearer the time.
Thanks, as always for your continued support.
Kind Regards
BRAHA Committee
