BRIAR ROAD ALLOTMENT HOLDERS’ ASSOCIATION

BRAHA NEWSLETTER – APRIL 2025

 Dear Plot Holders.

We hope everyone is well and making the most of the signs of Spring. A few things to share with you:

COMPOST / MULCH AVAILABLE – BIN 2

Bin 2 of the communal compost bins has been opened. As ever, it may need a bit of a sieve, but please feel free to help yourselves.

FREE PEA & BEAN SEEDS

We’ve had a donation of lots of packets of pea and bean seeds – they’re mostly out of date, but some may well be viable. They are on the table in the community hut (if you need the code for the door, please ask), so please go and help yourselves – it would be a shame for them to go to waste

PLANT SALE: SUNDAY 4TH MAY 11-1PM

A reminder of our upcoming plant sale - The event will include a plant and tool sale as well as light refreshments. We’ll be in touch again nearer the time, but will be grateful for any spare plants, produce or good condition tools you might have. We’d also be very grateful for any offers help on the day - either with set up, or support early on when it’s likely to be busy. If you can spare some time to help, please get in touch.

RUBBISH ON SITE – AN APPEAL!

Unfortunately, there has been a lot of rubbish dumped on site recently, both around the bin at the Andover Road end and on the hard standing in front of the TGA trading shed. At the risk of becoming a broken record, can we politely request that if the bin is full, hang on to your rubbish until it’s emptied or take it home to dispose of. Also - a reminder that the green bin is not to be used for green waste – the council may refuse to take it, and we risk having the facility removed completely.

If you’ve left rubbish on the hardstanding by the trading shed, please take it away – we have no rubbish clearance planned, and the area should be kept clear. It takes a lot of volunteer time to try to keep the site tidy for everyone’s benefit.

Pampas Grass – There are a few pampas grass plants in bins by the Andover Road notice board – if you’d like some, please help yourselves.

Hut Steps and Ramp - Finally, some of you may have noticed that the steps and ramp on the community hut have been replaced – a huge thank you to Alan and Jonathan for their hard work.

Thanks as always for your continued support

Kind regards
