Services and Activities 

 

Information, Advice and Guidance on Welfare Benefits, Housing, Health and Community Care; helping people access benefits and services they are entitled to. 

Person-centred support: addressing multiple needs and empowering vulnerable beneficiaries to become independent. Besides advice and assistance, we offer support in areas like getting online, reporting changes in circumstances, housing repairs, concessionary transport costs and referrals for specialist support such as repossession, evictions, bailiffs, utility disconnection and debt repayments.

By appointment only on Mondays and Tuesdays, between 9.30 am - 1.00 pm and 2.00 pm - 5.00 pm

Outreach Welfare Benefits Advice at Willesden Green and Harlesden libraries (Brent Hubs Willesden and Harlesden); working with Brent Council and local organisations and providing a joined-up response to the needs of the local community.

Outreach service operates on a first-come, first-served basis, between 9.30 am - 1.00 pm and 2.00 pm - 5.00 pm on the following days and locations:

 

  • Mondays at Willesden Green Library, 95 High Road, Willesden, NW10 2SF
  • Wednesdays at Harlesden Library, 49A Craven Park Road, London, NW10 8SE

 

Food Bank Vouchers: BHCAC staff are authorised by Sufra NW London Food Bank and Ealing Food Bank to give food vouchers to people who need emergency food and toiletries. For a food voucher, please speak to a member of the BHCAC staff when you access one of the services stated above. 

 

Welfare Benefits Training; increasing the knowledge of rights and entitlements and helping beneficiaries navigate the benefits system. The next training is scheduled for Spring 2025. To express an interest, please email us at info@bhcac.org.uk 

 

Money Management Workshops; developing financial literacy skills, budget management, identification of savings (i.e., discounts with utility providers), debt avoidance and future planning. Social Club, run by older volunteers (who are also beneficiaries themselves), provides vulnerable beneficiaries with opportunities for social interaction, reducing isolation and loneliness. Activities include coffee, lunches (Wednesdays only), talks and music.

Social and Cultural Events: Involving beneficiaries in organising events to reduce social exclusion and promote gender equality, Bosnian culture and positive community interaction. Volunteering Opportunities and Training for disadvantaged community members: developing beneficiaries’ skills in community work to support people accessing BHCAC’s activities.
