The School Archive

Much of the school archive was lost in the late 1990s and early 2000s and it was the promise of Muriel Ryding, the Chairman of the Baines Alumni to reform it and keep it safe for future generations.   We are therefore slowly rebuilding the archive and where possible scanning it to make a digital archive as well as a physical one.  When complete the physical and digital archive will be made available to all members of the Alumni.  The physical copies will be housed in the school buildings.

The Digital Archive will provide a virtual museum giving users a range of web materials, relating to the school, its former pupils and staff.  The archive contains materials and stories from the earliest days of the school to present day.

An archive is not only a collection of artifacts its is also a source of research and therefore we will encourage members to use the materials available to help in their own research, currently this research includes; the History of James Baines, the Wartime project and others.

One way in which members can help in this process is to record your memories in school.  We have recording equipment if needed
