DENGIE DART BUS
Arrows Taxis, Maldon working in partnership with Essex County Council and the Rural Community Council of Essex are launching the new Dengie DaRT service on Friday 18th May 2011. This is a new Demand Responsive Transport (DRT) scheme providing direct access to Broomfield Hospital in Chelmsford from Maldon and Dengie areas. The launch will be undertaken by MP John Whittingdale, Member of Parliament for Maldon.
The Scheme offers a fixed link between Maldon and Broomfield hospital plus a demand responsive service to Dengie, Asheldam , Maylandsea, Althorne, Stow Maries, Cold Norton, Latchingdon, Mundon, Purleigh. The operation will be timed to fit in with core markets, serving Broomfield Hospital for appointments, visitors and staff. Services will operate between 06:00 and 21:00 on Mondays to Fridays. The scheme is designed to become commercial and is aimed at demonstrating that DRT can be a sustainable solution to providing access in rural areas in the right circumstances.
The need for this service was identified through the Survey of Rural Services in 2008 and through the Maldon Accessibility and Safer Communities LSP Working Group.
