Council thanks new food waste recyclers

Buckinghamshire Council is thanking the thousands of households who have got into recycling their food waste since this was introduced to flats.

The council is taking the opportunity to encourage all residents to play their part in increasing food waste recycling across Buckinghamshire. This helps cut carbon emissions, generates green energy and keeps general waste bins cleaner.

For residents unsure of how to recycle more food waste you are encouraged to give it a try. It does not need to be perfect and all food waste except liquids can be recycled. Even small changes made week by week can have a real positive impact. Recycled waste can generate green energy and be turned into fertiliser reducing the council's disposal costs.

More information can be found on Buckinghamshire Council's web site at: buckinghamshirecouncil.gov.uk

Food Waste Recycing

Residents in flats with communal collections such as ours will have food waste recycling. This is planned by Buckinghamshire Council by the end of March 2026. Each flat will be delivered a kitchen caddy, a roll of liners and an information leaflet. An additional bin will be in each store for residents to put the food waste in. This will be collected on a weekly basis. More information can be found at: buckinghamshire.gov.uk

Clearing up our estate

We have been working with residents in Block 7 (Flats 85 - 96) to clear out the garage and hallway areas. If you have left any items outside your flat these should be removed and either stored inside the flat or your shed. Items left may be removed without notice and can especially in the case of toys give an unforseen danger to others.

In Block 4 (Flats 19-36) we recently cleared a bay of Nitrix Oxide cyclinders that it appears have been used by young people from off the estate. Please where safe to do so move on unwanted visitors from the private areas of our estate which includes gardens and all buildings. Report crime to the police on 101, on-line or if an emergency (crime in progress or people in danger) call 999.

Works update

Internal painting of Block 3 (Flats 1 - 18) has been completed January 2026. All walls, doors and stair rails have been re-painted. We will replace signage in the stairwells as required.

Garage painting is underway as of February 2026 in Blocks 1 & 1A (Flats 97-126).

Across the estate our gardening team continue to work hard to ensure the estate is tidy and looks its best. Inside the blocks our cleaning team visit every two weeks to clean the common areas. Residents can help here by not dropping litter, walking in with muddy boots and ensuring waste is placed in the bin stores correctly.

With the cold weather currently with us a reminder that there is Winter Weather equipment in the following blocks:

Block 1a (Flats 97-108)

Block 4 (Flats 19-36)

Block 5 (Flats 55-72)

The equipment is stored in a small cupboard along the shed corridor marked with a yellow label. All other blocks have a broom plus dustpan and brush for residents use for sweeping out the garage bays and shed corridors, Additionally we now have a salt spreader to help deal with those ocassions where we need to clear the roads and pavements. NOTE: Windsor Drive is not on a council salting route so it is self-serve. Salt in the road bin MUST only be used on the public road and paths.
