A group set up to celebrate the life and times of Sir Robert Peel, who became Prime Minister twice, started our Police service, and who lived with his family at nearby Drayton Manor, which is now a theme park.
We run a museum of Drayton Manor and Police memorabilia at Middleton Hall, Tamworth, attend schools and outside groups to give talks either explaining the history of the Peel family, how they made and lost a fortune, and/or why Sir Robert Peel found it necessary to set up a Police service, explaining how and why he did it and some developments since then.
Our aim is 'To help our elders to remember, and the young to understand.'
