We are planning a challenge for the Scarborough 400 celebrations. On Sunday 15th November 2026 at 1pm we want as many people as possible (ideally 400) to join us on the beach at Scarborough’s South Bay near the Beachcomber Kiosk. Participants will make a big number 400 on the beach.
We will provide a brightly coloured silicone swimming hat for each participant. People of any age* can join in and even dress up as your favourite sea creature. Optional quick dip in the sea afterwards, subject to weather and sea state, tide is forecast to be low. *Participants under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult
Our project already has pledges from anonymous donors of £1500 towards this and we are aiming to raise an additional £1500.
The project is reaching an important milestone in progressing with marine engineering and specialist technical surveys, which this funding will help with. The 400 on the beach challenge will be a fun, creative and visually engaging way for people to show support for the Scarborough Sea pool project and to keep the Scarborough 400 celebrations going into the Autumn.
