The Visitor Facilities in Mallaig, along with the off-grid toilets at Traigh Beach, were our first project. The visitor facilties are located at the edge of West Bay Car Park, as you enter Mallaig, and consist of a main toilet block; an accessible toilet (open 24/7); an accessible shower (open when the main building is open); and fresh water and chemical waste disposal point.
The toilets are free to use, but we welcome donations towards their upkeep. There is a small charge for both the shower and the fresh water / chemical waste disposal point.
The main toilet block is unisex, consisting of urinals behind a screen to the right as you enter, and then five fully enclosed toilet cubicles. We appreciate that not everyone is comfortable with this, so feel free to use the accessible cubicle which is accessed from the exterior of the building (on the left hand side as you are standing at the front) if you would prefer.
For those travelling by train, the toilets are accessible from the main pavement - turn left as you exit the station, and left again at the roundabout and the toilets are beyond the Community Centre.
