Announcement of Annual General Meeting

The Road to the Isles Facilities Group will hold its Annual General Meeting at 7pm on Tuesday 11 June 2024 in the Mallaig and Morar Community Centre.

This charitable organisation run by local volunteers looks after the toilets at Traigh, Tougal and Mallaig, the car park at Tougal and managed the development of Mallaig’s children’s play park and improvements to the circular walk. It also raised the money to pay to renew the decking at the viewpoint and clear the verges at East Bay, and carry out repairs to the path and hand rails leading to the Morar Cross.

If you are interested in the work of the group, whether or not you are a Trustee, a Member, or an interested member of the community, please free to come along.

If you are interested but unable to attend in person and would like to participate virtually, then please e mail: roadtotheislesfacilitiesgroup@gmail.com for the Teams link. Members will be sent the link automatically.

CIRCULAR WALK PROJECT

We have been notified that the contractor will start work on the remaining section of the Circular Walk on Monday 3rd June. As a result, the section between Kings Way and Mallaig Veag will be closed for a period.

Access between Kings Way and the village (East Bay) will remain open during the work, though some shuttling of materials on the path above the new housing development will take place intermittently, and we would ask that you be aware of machinery traversing the route, and take extra care during this time. In the interests of safety we would advise that dogs are kept on a lead.
Thank you very much for your patience whilst the work is carried out.
