Discussion: "What is philosophy for?"

Tuesday 04 June 2013
18:00 to 19:30

Last month's discussion focused on Stoicism, a ancient practical philosophical tradition with much to offer today, and this month's will continue along those lines. "Public philosophers", philosophy groups, movements such as philosophical counselling, Philosophy for All, and the School of Life have helped philosophy to escape from the ivory tower - but is that where it more properly belongs? Should philosophy have practical or personal outcomes, should it be for anything?

C-SCAIPE, Kingston University Penrhyn Road campus, is along the corridor to the left of the main reception area on Penrhyn Road. It's not a cafe and there will be no refreshments on sale, so if you want food or drink you will have to bring your own - or if you want to be sociable bring something to share.

Doors open at 5.45pm for a 6.00 - 7.30pm discussion.
