The Absolute in Post-Kantian Idealism and English Poetry
Monday 21 October 2024
20:00 to 21:30
At 20:00 Barrie Selwyn will discuss The Absolute at WLP. This event is held at the Adelaide.
The Absolute is a concept that can be traced back to Parmenides. With a nod to Spinoza it re-emerges when the post Kantians attempt to resolve the chasm between thought and being arising from Kant’s concept of the noumenon - the enigmatic and unknowable thing in itself At the same time the ‘Absolute’ appears in English Poetry of this period. This reciprocity between philosophy and literature has never been matched.
