What is Consciousness?

Wednesday 31 January 2024
19:00 to 20:30

At 19:00 we will have a group discussion on what we think consciousness is, led by Barrie Selwyn.

We bandy around the terms conscious and unconscious without difficulty in our everyday conversation, but what exactly do we mean? According to Wikipedia "its nature has led to millennia of analyses, explanations and debate by philosophers, theologians, and all of science." And "Examples of the range of descriptions, definitions or explanations are: simple wakefulness, one's sense of selfhood or soul explored by "looking within"; being a metaphorical "stream" of contents, or being a mental statemental event or mental process of the brain."

I am conscious of being confused, perhaps you can help and join the discussion.
