A real-life moral dilemma + "What next?"

Thursday 09 December 2010
18:00 to 19:30

(Postponed from 2nd because of bad weather - and if bad weather persists may have to be postponed again, probably to January.)

We've discussed imaginary moral dilemmas in the past, but this evening's discussion will involve an event that really happened and where we know the outcome. Was the decision made by those involved the right one? If you want to think about this one in advance, have a look at http://e-voice.org.uk/kingstonphilosophycafe/files/view/philosophy-cafe-briefings/thought-experiments/The_Afghan_goatherds_1.doc.

+ Our annual "What next?" session will carry on alongside the discussion - or as an alternative if you prefer. This is not a philosophical question but your opportunity to shape the programme for next year. What would you like to discuss? Do you have a particular philosopher or philosophical topic you'd like to lead or pose a question on
for others to discuss (remember, you don’t have to know all the answers to lead a session – just some good stimulating questions)? Do you have philosopher friends who might like to come and talk to us? Post-it notes will be provided, and all feasible suggestions will be considered and we'll do our best to get them into the programme.

Bridges opens its riverside doors at 5.30pm for our 6.00om start - come along at 5.30 to buy refreshments before we begin the serious philosophical business of the evening.
