At 19:00 Christian Michel will an on-line talk on the Desertion of Democracy. 

The talk will examine the tension between freedom and people’s power (illustrated in “illiberal democracies”), address the problem of political representation, discuss the relevance of national democracies in confronting global issues, and will conclude that democracies as they exist are probably past their shelf life.
(The word “idiot” in Classical Greek referred to citizens who didn't take part in debates on the agora – were they, as Epicurus suggested, the wisest people?).
