The painting is representational of how sometimes we feel a bit helpless as both the individual seeking help and the person who desperately wants to help. In times of crisis all it takes is a simple phone call to reach out in a time of need, maybe that phone call can be the 'hope'  that we need especially during the crisis that we face during this unfortunate time.  This painting actually saved somebodies life, who made the phone call and the decision to make that change.
