Volunteer Podcast Creator & Producer
Role Title: Volunteer Podcast Creator & Producer
Location: Remote / Hybrid (Birmingham Studio)
Commitment: 3–5 hours per week (flexible daytime or evening hours)
About the Role:
Live broadcasts are brilliant, but what happens when our listeners miss a groundbreaking community interview on 87.9 FM? That’s where you come in. We are looking for a tech-savvy and community-minded Volunteer Podcast Creator & Producer to join our audio hub. Teamwork is at the absolute heart of this role. You will act as the vital bridge between our on-air teams and the on-demand digital world, working hand-in-hand with Volunteer Radio Presenters, Evening Show Researchers, and Audio Content Editors to select, package, and distribute the very best of Hope Radio Brum to global platforms like Spotify and Apple Podcasts.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Review broadcast logs and collaborate with Volunteer Audio Content Editors & Archivists to identify high-value community segments that deserve a second life as a podcast.
  • Package long-form studio interviews into structured, polished episodic podcast formats.
  • Work alongside Volunteer Radio Presenters to record dedicated, punchy podcast introductions, hooks, and summaries.
  • Coordinate with the Social Media & Digital Assistants to provide them with promotional audio clips ("audiograms") and direct links to share with our online audience.
  • Manage the station’s podcast distribution dashboard, ensuring metadata, titles, and tags are cleanly organized.
What We Are Looking For:
  • A collaborative spirit who enjoys working across different departments—from live presentation to digital marketing.
  • Basic experience using audio editing software (like Audacity, Reaper, or Audition) to stitch tracks and level volumes.
  • A passion for on-demand storytelling and an understanding of how podcasts can be used to champion local Birmingham voices.
  • Reliable digital file organization skills to keep our cloud-based audio assets structured.
