Volunteer Music Library & Music Relations Coordinator
Role Title: Volunteer Music Library & Music Relations Coordinator
Location: Hybrid (Remote / South Birmingham Venues)
Commitment: 3–5 hours per week (flexible daytime and evening hours)
About the Role:
Music is the heartbeat of Hope Radio Brum, and keeping our tracks fresh, diverse, and community-focused requires dedicated coordination. We are seeking music-loving individuals to join our Music Library Team. In this collaborative role, you will work together as a unit to manage our digital assets and act as the primary station liaisons with external record companies, promotional agents, and independent artists. Because we pride ourselves on championing high-quality local talent, team members will also head out into the South Birmingham music scene to watch artists perform live, scouting talent firsthand to ensure they are a perfect fit for our 87.9 FM audience.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work collaboratively as part of the Music Library Team to manage, curate, and tag the station’s central digital music database for the playout system.
- Act as a joint point of contact for record labels, pluggers, promotional agents, and independent musicians seeking radio airplay.
- Head out into the local community to attend gigs, open mic nights, and music venues across Birmingham, watching artists perform live to review their style, quality, and crowd connection.
- Collaborate with Volunteer Evening Show Researchers and Producers to feed newly discovered local music and industry promo tracks into specialized shows.
- Monitor track categorization to ensure the station’s automated daytime playlist remains vibrant, balanced, and aligned with community values.
What We Are Looking For:
- A massive passion for music and a strong desire to work as part of a collaborative, supportive team.
- Enthusiastic about going out to live music venues and scouting grassroots talent in the local community.
- Excellent professional communication skills, comfortable sending emails to industry agents and chatting with artists face-to-face.
- Highly organized with good computer literacy to manage digital audio files and database metadata efficiently.
