Volunteer Evening Station Receptionist & Front of House

Role Title: Volunteer Evening Station Receptionist & Front of House

Location: Birmingham Studio (Druids Heath Library)

Commitment: Aligned with evening show times (e.g., 6:30 PM – 10:00 PM)

About the Role:

Evening music shows often bring in local bands, guest DJs, and community representatives, making the front desk a vibrant and busy place at night. We are seeking a Volunteer Evening Station Receptionist to be the welcoming face of our night-time operations. Working closely with the 2 Evening Duty Station Managers, you will keep our reception running smoothly, ensuring all late-night visitors are greeted warmly, checked in safely for health and safety, and directed to their studios without disrupting live broadcasts.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Warmly greet arriving evening studio guests, offer them refreshments, and ensure they feel comfortable before their segment.
  • Maintain strict evening security by ensuring all late volunteers, staff, and external musical guests sign the official visitor book.
  • Immediately notify the relevant Volunteer Evening Show Producer when their scheduled guest or band has arrived so they can be cued into the studio.
  • Coordinate with the 2 Evening DSMs to monitor the main entrance during late-night hours when the main library building is closed.
  • Act as the evening keeper of the First Aid Box and Accident Book, ensuring any late-night incidents are logged perfectly.

What We Are Looking For:

  • A warm, friendly, and approachable individual who feels comfortable managing a front desk during lively evening hours.
  • Organised with a responsible attitude toward evening building security and guest logging.
  • Excellent communication skills to coordinate seamlessly with busy evening music producers.
