Role Title: Volunteer Website News Writer

Location: Remote / Hybrid (Birmingham Studio)

Commitment: 2–4 hours per week (flexible)

About the Role:

Do you have a knack for writing clear, engaging online articles? We are looking for Volunteer News Writers to power the Hope Radio Brum website. In this role, you will take the raw interview notes, audio clips, and local details gathered by our Field Content Collectors across South Birmingham and shape them into polished digital news articles. Your writing will help keep our online audience informed, engaged, and connected to grassroots stories.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review raw information, interview transcripts, and notes submitted by our Ward Content Collectors.
  • Write accurate, engaging, and well-structured news articles and feature pieces for the station website.
  • Ensure all written content adheres to the station's style guide and maintains a positive, community-focused tone.
  • Source or select appropriate photographs to accompany your online articles.

What We Are Looking For:

  • Good written English skills with a sharp eye for spelling, grammar, and accurate storytelling.
  • The ability to take rough notes and synthesise them into a compelling online format.
  • Basic familiarity with digital publishing tools is a bonus, but not essential as training is provided.
