Response, Recovery & Resilience Fund
Grants from £1,000 - £5,000
In partnership with the National Emergencies Trust, Foundation Scotland is providing funding to support charities and consitituted community groups that have been impacted by the coronavirus pandemic.
The Response phase launched in March and by early June had received over 1000 applications. To date we have distributed more than 750 grants and £3.2m in funds to communities right across Scotland.
Whilst the first phase of funding focussed on meeting communities most immediate needs, the fund is now focussing on Recovery. As some lockdown restrictions are lifted this phase of funding will support organisations to continue their operations in the ‘new normal’, to re-establish or re-design their activities to comply with new regulations in addition to providing emergency support for those who need it most.

£350m Scottish Government funding to support communities affected by coronavirus
The funding is designed to be flexible, cutting down on red tape to enable them to respond swiftly and according to local need for people impacted economically or through reduced contact with society, including anyone struggling to access food.
Included in the emergency funding package is the £40 million Supporting Communities Fund which community groups can apply for to support local people at risk because of age, isolation, carers, homeless people and asylum seekers and signposting people to sources of help such as applying for benefits.
There’s also a £70 million Food Fund which will help organisations in the public, private and voluntary sectors address issues of food insecurity, especially for older people, and families who may not be able to rely on free school meals.
A Wellbeing Fund of £50 million will help charities and others who require additional capacity to work with at-risk people who may be worst affected by the crisis, including homeless people and those experiencing fuel poverty.
£20 million will be allocated to a Third Sector Resilience Fund, to help ensure the health and continued viability of the third sector organisations affected by cash flow and other issues.

Pocket Places Programme – Expressions of Interest
Community groups who want to find simple, quick, temporary solutions to improve the look and feel of their streets and make them safer should apply to the Sustrans Pocket Places programme.
Pocket Places is funded by Transport Scotland and delivered by Sustrans Scotland who expect to fund four Pocket Places projects in 2020. They offer the help of a design team to help design and implement improvements to local streets and there is up to £20,000 available for construction per project.
Sustrans Scotland provides advice, support and funding to make it easier for people to walk and cycle for everyday journeys. The Pocket Places programme states that every street has the potential to be a place with greenery, clean air, and priority given to people, enabling them to use the space as a community and travel actively.
Expressions of interest are open all year round and applications are processed three times a year in March, July and November. The latest round seeking expressions of interest closed on Tuesday 31st March 2020. Projects selected in this round will be expected to begin in June.
All applicants must be willing and able to take ownership of the project and take on any maintenance required.
