Forthcoming Exhibition
There will be a one day exhibition during Heritage Week on Sunday 13th September at Bonby Village Hall between 10am and 4pm.
The exhibition will include;-
- A house through time, a house of historical interest in the village once owned by a knight of the realm.
- A look back at Bonby School from its opening to its closure 120 years later, from the perspective of the school log books.
- Details of how the Methodist movement brought about three chapels and some other buildings being errected within the village.
- Past census information about the inhabitants of the village for you to investigate.
- Photos, lots of photos, old photos, recent photos and aerial photos.
- Activities for the youngsters.
- Refreshments - drinks and home made cakes served by ladies of the village.
Entry to the exhibition is completly free thanks to the kindness of the village hall committee but there will be the opportunity for anyone wishing to donate to the village hall to do so.
Church Open Days
St Andrews Church is generally open for visitors at weekends with a "church open" sign displayed outside the tower.
A history display is planned for a weekend in May 2026 to tie in with other church activities within North Lincolnshire. (Dates yet to be anounced.)
The day Radio Humberside came to have a look at Bonby.
Whilst on air Peter Levey recomended to Richard Stead from Radio Humberside, to go to Bonby as a lovely place to visit, so Richard contacted the Bonby History Group and asked for a visit and a chat about the village, what its history was and what goes on in the village now. So on Tuesday 15th July 2025, Richard came to Bonby and had a chat with some locals. He played the interviews over a couple of days on his show on Radio Humberside. Memories days
Memories days which took place on "coffee and cake" mornings in Bonby village hall gathered much infomation which the History Group is now processing.
