Service Number T/239772
Pte Frederick Webster was a driver with the Royal Army Service Corps and he had seen action in France. Prior to tthe outbreak of war, he had lived in Bonby and worked as a horseman in South Ferriby.
He died aged 20 on 29th July 1941, at sea on active service, when the British Merchant ship, the Shahristan was torpedoed by a U boat, the U-371. This took place southeast of the Azores.
He is remembered with Honour on the Brookwood 1939-1945 Memorial, (Panel 17, Column 2) and on the family grave in the cemetery at Melton Ross
