Bonby War Memorial was initially created following the first World War.

Bonby Village School took an active part in raising funds for the War Memorial.

The entry in the Bonby Village School Log Book for November 11th 1919 states;

"In commemoration of the signing of the Armistice children made silent prayer. Then followed address & recitation of patriotic poems, singing of national patriotic songs, partiotic dances etc, The Roll of Honour was decorated with flags & special allusion was made to the gallant Heroes who paid the supreme sacrifice."

Shown below are a number of children from the village with names for the memorial with the inital listing upon a school blackboard.

The picture dates from 1919 and is believed to include the following children;

(Left to Right) Stanley Smith, Dorothy Trought, Eliza Trought, Unknown, ?? Rawson, Jack Armstrong, George Henry Trought,

The War memorial was erected and photographed at the unveiling on August 15th 1920. It is sited in the churchyard adjacent to the lychgate.
