Ardleigh & District Horticultural Society is a friendly organisation which welcomes everyone. It was founded in 1893 and aims to promote an interest in all aspects of horticulture.
Monthly evening meetings are held from October to May (but not in January) at Ardleigh Methodist Hall (Colchester Road, Ardleigh, CO7 7NP). We have a talk from a guest speaker followed by refreshments and drawing of the raffle.
The Annual Produce Show in mid-August, at Ardleigh Village Hall (Station Road, Ardleigh, CO7 7RS), is an open show and always receives lots of positive comments regarding the quality and quantity of the entries.
A large plant & cake sale is held for a couple of hours on a Saturday morning mid-May, at Ardleigh Village Hall (Station Road, Ardleigh, CO7 7RS).
Membership is just £5 a year. This gives you free entry to all 7 of our monthly meetings and free entry to the Annual Show. You can join at any of the monthly meetings or at the Annual Show (for the next season).
It is with great regret, that due to continuing Covid-19 uncertainty and the safeguarding procedures that would need to be put in place to hold our meetings, Ardleigh & District Horticultural Society Committee has made the decision to cancel the Society’s February, March, April and May meetings in 2021.
We sincerely hope that sufficient people will have been vaccinated and the vaccine will be doing its job to enable us to hold our Plant & Cake Sale on Saturday 15th May 2021 and the Annual Show on Saturday 21st August 2021, both at Ardleigh Village Hall.
Membership for 2019-2020 has been carried forward to 2020-2021, so members that joined for the 2019-2020 season will not have to pay any membership subscription for the 2020-2021 season.
As you can appreciate the main focus must be to keep everyone as safe as possible, in these unprecedented times.
You can join the Society at any meeting or at the Annual Show.
