The Guildford Ying Wah Chinese School is a non-profit organisation teaching Chinese to the communities of Guildford, Farnborough, Aldershot, Farnham, Leatherhead and the surrounding areas.

Guildford Ying Wah was established in 1977. It was set up in Surrey University with the support of the Vice-Chancellor and a Member of Parliament of the Guildford Constituency at the time. With the support of the University, their students and the Chinese Student Society, we have taught the Chinese language and culture to many many students. Guildford Ying Wah also belongs to the UK Federation of Chinese Schools.

Guildford Ying Wah operates every Sunday from 9:00am to 3:00pm in the Lecture Theatre Building of Surrey University. Click here for our location.

Plus we now run some online lessons during the week.

Currently, approximately 25 students attend and some parents also help supervise.

There are different levels of Mandarin and Cantonese classes; beginner to advanced, for young children age 3 to adults.

Classes are small and are taught by a mixture of professional teachers, volunteer parents as well as University students who are native Mandarin speakers.

The small classes and excellent teachers provide a good environment for learning.

New students are welcome at any time. Fees are then pro rata accordingly.

First lesson is free for new students, after which the charges are pro rata based on the number of sessions remaining for the term.

There are three 10 week terms per year.

One-to-one learning or small groups can also be arranged, both face to face and online. These are not restricted to term dates.

If you are interested, do contact us by email us at yingwahchineseschool@yahoo.co.uk and come for a free try out session.
