Why we do what we do
With over 40 years of experience in carpentry and joinery, Richard Green has a deep-rooted passion for working with Green Oak. After qualifying as a tutor and teaching in Further Education for more than 13 years, he took early retirement to focus on sharing heritage skills with eager learners. Driven by his own personal journey of mental health recovery, Richard founded West Riding Heritage C.I.C. to empower others to improve their well-being through creative, hands-on craft.
Nazia spent over ten years as a beauty lecturer before falling in love with woodworking while building a garden salon. After qualifying in Level 2&3 she found herself struggling to find work experience in a male-dominated trade, she co-founded West Riding Heritage C.I.C. to create an inclusive space where women can build confidence and master heritage crafts. Drawing from her personal mental health struggles, she ensures that emotional well-being remains at the core of everything the project does.
